Toe-gate: Day 12

Feet1_sm

This afternoon, after two hours in A&E, I found out why my toe was still hurting so much: it’s broken. But not in the normal way, oh no. Somehow I’ve managed to chip the end of the bone off – the X-ray was pretty impressive. The doctor said it will at some point reattach itself and while I’m healing i’m to take antibiotics to help avoid infection because the doc also drilled three little holes into my nail to let the blood out (which was gruesomely pleasing).

Funny how, when I’m trying to go as fast as I can to get everything done, I now have to take it easy and rest my foot; I have to slow down. There are other ways I could have learnt the lesson, of course, but this one is not lost on me. There is no rush; the future will come.

  2. Oh no! It sounds very painful – I hope it gets better soon – how typical that it’s flip flop weather as well…

  3. Ewww!
    Smile (I am a wimp!)
I am so sorry, but you are right – things will happen in their own time.
    Good luck with the healing!

    HEHEHE!
I’m not laughing at your pain you poor girl, I can sympathise there, but I am having a little giggle at the extremely strange sense of humour the universe uses when trying to teach us lessons.
I had a thought on 31st Dec that I would like to dive head first into the New Year (obviously meaning that I would be open to everything that life has to offer).
However I failed to clarify that thought, and so the Universe responded to my request by organising a tragic dancing accident that saw me fly head first into a wall and break my nose :-) I’m more careful what I wish for now.
So put up your pretty feet and know that you are exactly where you are supposed be, sure that if you try to go somewhere you are not ready for, the universe will set you straight.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and as little pain a possible

  6. Um, first of all…Gag. Drill holes in nail? Chip off bone? Yuck!
And then…You poor thing! Aww! I send you hugs.
And I agree that this is INDEED how things work. I bet you had a pebble tossed at you, an dyou did not pay attention…So then came a rock. Lucky you got it before the brick came! lol

  7. You would be the creative one…even in breaking your toe! I hope it heals for you quickly–and that your slowed down state continues to offer you (albeit-disguised) blessings.
    Love,
    D.

This is slowing down the hard way!!!
But take a deep breath, and enjoy the walk.

  13. Ouch! That is what happened to my sister, so when we talked about her pain it was in fact the same pain as you were feeling. Double ouch.
You make me smile, extracting such a simple and profound lesson from this nasty incident. No rush, so true. Surely it didn’t have to hurt so much to learn that one though…

    “gruesomely pleasing”
Love this! I use similar descriptions to which my husband reacts as if something is wrong with me. I completely understand what you are saying with those two words and bless you for saying it like it is! I tend to try to change my words to please others and that is soooo not what I really want to do. You have inspired me to be genuine in my self-expression. For that I thank you!
