Music to my eyes
I love the internet so much. SO MUCH. I love how it has brought into my life some of the best friends a girl could wish for, and a community of like-minded souls that i cherish; how it leads me to such incredible photographs and inspiration and trails of creative possibility. I love that it has brought people from my past into my present, to heal wounds and have them be released. I love how much smaller the world seems, and how I can find out what is happening anywhere at anytime; how i can discover the temperature in Helsinki and book a flight to Japan. I love that when I missed an episode of Torchwood last week, i found it online days later (these little things matter), and that glimpses of other people’s lives make me chuckle in the morning.
And right now, I am loving that it has brought me this new site, where I can listen to online mix tapes and make one of my own. Music is my constant companion, and one of my favourite things to do is to put together an hour of aural inspiration for a loved one, then send it out with a sweet note and bar of chocolate. So now that i can no longer access Pandora (not available in the UK, even if you enter a US zipcode – dammit!) I have found a way to discover new music i might never have found otherwise. This little thing has just made my morning… oh internet, how i love thee.
(and hey, if you create your own mixtape, could you leave me the link? :-)

oh lovely. thank you for all of these delicious links – i’ve made a separate folder just for the photo linky’s. happy day to you gorgeous. xo
This is so cool! I have listened to your playlist this morning while doing my sun salutes (and then I had a little dance out of sheer joy). I feel so pumped up and ready to start my day now! You are so right about the internet. It rocks! This morning I have listened to so much groovy music of artists I otherwise wouldn’t have known. Thank you for sharing! When I get time I will compile my own playlist:) Btw, I regularly pop into your corner of the cyberspace: love your words and photographs.
Yay! What a great post- so many delicious links to relish. Thanks :)
Susannah, thanks so much for all these wonderful photosite links! The talent out there is just mind-boggling!
I love playlists and will take some time to listen to yours. I recognize some of the names but it makes me feel just so out of date with all that’s groovy and moody! Since 2003 I’ve been making my “K-Mix” CDs which I give to friends and family for Christmas every year. I was never that keen on the name but it kind of stuck and it’s become an annual tradition. Last year I also put up my playlist on iTunes, if you are curious you can see it here (I think you may need iTunes though to listen): http://www.gipsylife.com/blog/kmix-2007.html
I love the Internet, too!
cool mixtape site!
Oh, the LINKS! Glorious…
Love,
D.
I miss mix tapes. My girlfriends and I would trade them to each other in high school. And then there was that one I got from a boy that made me fall hopelessly in love w/ him. ..aaahh.. I’ll have to check out this site, and send you a link. have a sweet day. xo
I love the internet because if it wasn’t for the internet you wouldn’t be my homegirl.
I’m off to check out your mix tape. Just got back from two days on capmus doing statistical calculations with an actual calculator. My head hurts. I need vino, I need music.
Love you xoxox
i love the internet too, and blogworld. :) and i used to love listening to pandora before they restricted it to the US only. i’m going to check out the mixtape site now!! xoxo
Hey, Susannah! Yay for muxtape. I found them through you and have had such fun bouncing around there. I’ve been a tad behind on my new-music-finding and this was just the ticket. I am loving your mix and have made one of my own right here: http://lesophie.muxtape.com/ if you’d like to check it out :) Music is my constant companion as well and I can see this site becoming an addiction…hmmm. Thank you and happy weekend to you!
thank you for your mix tape Susannah :)
It just turned around a horrible day at work!
