Calling all iPhone fanatics

The Hipstamatic app has a new Hipstapak you can buy – the Mission, comprising the Bettie XL lens and Ina’s 1935 film.

To my mind, every photograph is precious – there are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ photos, just our attempts to record emotions, occasions, the beauty we see and the things we want to remember. It’s no secret that i have been pulling away from digital photography in favour of film, but there is something about the iPhone that is so lo-fi and simple I can’t help but love it. And this new ‘lens’ on the Hipstamatic app makes me VERY happy indeed. Pink! Blur! Scratched dusty goodness!

  5. If only I had an iphone!! This Iphone app is so deceivingly old-school – the photographs are so lovely and vintage-looking you’d be hard pressed not to want to get an iphone just for the effects.. !

  7. I am oddly obsessed with the hipstamtic app, I use it often on my phone and there are just certain shots that would not really be all that interesting that look artsy and cool with the app. I have used it often to document for my 365 project!

  12. These are lovely photos! I somehow find film more romantic than digital, and still stubbornly cling to it – to the point of hanging onto disposable cameras for precious shots! (Do disposable cameras count as cameras?:))

  14. Oh my, now I’m even more jealous of my big sister and her iphone!! I haven’t managed to get one myself, but I looove the hipstamatic app on her one and will always plays with it when she’s around. I’ll have to tell her about this new lens for it, it looks amazing, I LOVE the pink light leak look :)

  15. Yep – holding my hand up as a hipstamatic and all round iphonography addict too. (Not that I actually phone with the iphone…hate mobiles..)

I’ve come to the point where I really don’t mind what I shoot with – from a Digi “big boys” camera to the iphone via all the lo-fis in between. Its about the image – colour , emotion whatever. How you get there isn’t actually that important.

My first love is still the SX70 Polaroid though – can’t see anything changing that !

the Hipstamatic app has different settings for different looks and they call them ‘lens’ – it’s a just a fun feature of the app, not real lenses, alas :)

  18. I LOVE it. I downloaded it as soon as I read this. Thanks!
