The ABC of me
accent: a very English sounding English accent. Sometimes sounds a bit posh, mostly sounds a bit rough, with plenty of slang and swear words mixed in for good measure.
booze: red wine, white wine, champagne, G&T, mojitos, Hoegarden beer with a slice of lemon
chore I hate: washing up. I loathe it but have to do it as I live on my own (and hate mess). I’m exceptionally tidy, bordering on obsessively.
dogs/cats: none, but I miss Sadie, our black collie/labrador cross
essential electronics: my beloved G4 imac, my mini iPod, my DVD player
favorite perfume/cologne: I’ve been wearing Angel by Thierry Mugler for thirteen years and it is the scent that is most me; occasionally I cheat on my first love with Tam Dao or Philosykos by Diptyque and Nutmeg & Ginger by Jo Malone. Even my agent said she knew I was waiting for her in reception before seeing me because she could smell my perfume… In the 80s I wore Poison (who didn’t?)
gold/silver: silver (or platinum, thanks)
hometown: Bournemouth, Dorset… the south coast of England. Nothing much happens there, which is strange when you consider how much has happened there/here for me….
insomnia: all the bloody time. I’m a slow starter in the morning but by the time I go to bed my mind is racing. Full moons don’t help either.
job title: not sure anymore. Was freelance journalist, but I guess I can say author now too.
kids: do my three godchildren count? They should because I love them as if they were my own.
living arrangements: with myself, by myself, and loving it
most admired trait: my ability to listen and support my friends

overnight hospital stays: none, thank god.
phobia: no real ones, though I’m not too keen on large spiders

siblings: one beautiful, adored sister, who painted the picture above for me
time I usually wake up: currently about 9am
unusual talent: I have double-jointed shoulder blades, which means I can make them stick out like wings and rub suntan lotion onto my own back… but I have yet to meet anyone who thinks this looks anything other than weird.
vegetables I refuse to eat: parsnips and celery are the devil’s veg. All other vegetables I adore especially broccoli, peas and artichokes.
worst habit: has to be smoking
x-rays: only dental
yummy foods I make: panzenella: an Italian salad of ripe chopped tomatoes, grilled red peppers, capers, green olives, basil, garlic, spring onions and cubes of toasted ciabatta bread, dressed with red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. And frittata… and pea and king prawn risotto.
