Open Your Eyes @ Squam, Fall 2010

How to take beautiful pictures of ordinary things and not the other way around.

In September I’m teaching Open Your Eyes, a one-day photography class at the autumn session of Squam Art Workshops in New Hampshire, USA.

In the workshop we’ll explore what makes a successful photograph, starting with a slide show, discussion and demonstrations in the morning, and a photography safari in the afternoon. The class will cover composition, light and subject matter, and will offer tips on creativity and inspiration, how to train your eye to see “the shot” and how to expand your own visual vocabulary.

I had such a great time at SAW last year and Squam Lake is so stunningly beautiful I know there’ll be plenty for us to photograph on the day (including cupcakes, naturally). I’m so excited to explore real life teaching and can’t wait to meet my students in person.
