How the course works
Starting from the day you sign up you’ll receive an email from me every day for 25 days. The emails should arrive in your inbox at roughly the same time each day – when that is will depend upon the time you originally signed up. For example, if you purchased the course at 2pm you should get your daily emails at around 2pm, but obviously you can work through the email whenever works best for you!
On the last day I’ll give you a downloadable ebook of the entire course so you can go back through the lessons whenever you like.
Questions & answers
Do I need to be in class at a certain time?
No, there are no set times you have to be in class – all lessons will be emailed to you direct. This is a self-paced class, so you can fit it in whenever is best for you. Expect to spend about an hour on the class each week broken down into mini sessions. For example, some of you might like to read the email the minute it arrives and draw cards/journal there and then, while others might prefer to save their journaling time for the evening or go through the week’s lessons at the weekend. It’s totally up to you.
I’ll be giving you stuff to do but it’s not like the homework you had in school — there are no deadlines or grading or exams. Dip in and out and ENJOY yourself!
What tarot deck should I use?
If at all possible I’d love you to work with three tarot decks during the course — the classic Rider Waite Smith tarot, a RWS clone and another deck of YOUR CHOOSING. (Don’t worry if you’re not sure what a RWS clone looks like — more details coming in the first email!) The third deck might well be a RWS-style deck, but you are very welcome to explore a deck that deviates from the RWS system e.g. The Wild Unknown, Chrysalis, Wildwood, Mary-el, Thoth or Marseille. We’ll use the traditional Rider Waite Smith tarot system as our guide through the course but it’s good to explore other decks alongside it.
PS. You can also absolutely do this course using just ONE TAROT DECK — I’ll share plenty of photos so you can see other deck imagery!
Do I need to believe in something specific to take this course?
No, not at all! Some people like to emphasise the mystical reputation of tarot cards but I don’t see them that way. They are beautiful, they are creative, they are inspiring, they are fun! Doing this class will help you to understand how the “magic” isn’t in the card themselves — it’s inside YOU. For me the cards are less about divining the future and more about a creative way to look at myself — my joys and struggles and everything in-between.
Can I connect with other taking the course?
No. There will be no Facebook group for this session – instead you are very welcome to email me (Susannah) directly as you go through the course. Please note that I won’t be able to interpret readings for you – this is a course to help you forge your OWN connection to the tarot so dig in and have fun with it!
