The tarot is like a portal connecting you directly to your own inner wisdom.
The tarot was a mystery to me when I bought my first deck. I was an art student so I enjoyed the imagery, but those 78 cards held enigmatic messages I never quite understood. What changed all that was finding a deck I connected to on an emotional level and getting to know the cards in a way that was relevant to my every day life. Rather than seeing the cards as a way to predict my future (hint: they’re not) they revealed themselves to be these extraordinary mirrors that reflected me back to myself in clear, often playful, and always illuminating ways. I felt connected to something bigger and wiser “out there” but more importantly, I felt connected to my own inner wisdom.
Tarot has a set system we can learn, but the real magic happens when we open up to our own intuition in the mirror of the cards. Full of symbols, stories and archetypes that speak to our unconscious, the cards act as prompts to help us uncover what we’re really feeling and know deep inside. I found that as soon as I stopped trying to get it “right” according to the books, my understanding of the cards went to a whole other level.
My readings became soulful conversations with the magic I hold within me.
In this six week course I’m going to help you make a deep and lasting personal connection to the tarot. We’re going to commit to working with three decks: the Rider Waite Smith, a RWS clone and a wild card — the deck you feel is your home/soul deck. Together we’ll unravel the tarot system by number, suit and element. We’ll compile our own “little white book” of meanings and associations and find our own stories within each card of the Major and Minor arcana.
There are many different ways we can tap into our intuition and tarot cards are an especially active and creative way to do so. I am emphatically NOT interested in using tarot for prediction — rather, the tarot is a beautifully elegant and wise tool when used for self-reflection. By the end of this course you’ll have an honest and supportive ally on your side.

Questions and Answers
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO THIS COURSE?
An email account, a computer (or tablet or phone!), at least one tarot deck you want to get to know better and a journal.
DO I NEED A SPECIFIC TAROT DECK?
We’ll be working with three tarot decks in class — the classic Rider Waite Smith tarot, a RWS clone and another deck of YOUR CHOOSING. (Don’t worry if you’re not sure what a RWS clone looks like — I’ll send more details in the welcome email!) The third deck might well be a RWS-style deck, but you are very welcome to explore a deck that deviates from the RWS system e.g. The Wild Unknown, Chrysalis, Wildwood, Mary-el, Thoth or Marseille. We’ll use the traditional Rider Waite Smith tarot system as our guide through the course but it’s good to explore other decks alongside it. You can absolutely do this course using just ONE TAROT DECK — I’ll share plenty of photos so you can see other deck imagery!
HOW DOES THE CLASS WORK?
You’ll get an email every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for six weeks. Each email will contain that day’s lesson — a combination of words, photos, prompts and lots of examples. On the last day of class you’ll receive a beautifully-designed ebook containing all the lessons to download and keep forever.
HOW DOES THIS COURSE DIFFER FROM THE DAILY GUIDANCE COURSE?
Daily Guidance is more of a general (but very thorough!) introduction to tarot AND oracle cards. 78 Mirrors is the next step for anyone wanting to really get to know the tarot — Major and Minor arcana, card by card, suit by suit, numbers and elements — and bring it into their own life experiences. We will be forging deeply personal connections to our decks alongside “learning the meanings” of the cards. We won’t be looking at any oracles in 78 Mirrors — this is ALL tarot!
DO I NEED TO “BELIEVE IN SOMETHING” TO TAKE THIS CLASS?
No, not at all! Some people like to emphasise the mystical reputation of tarot cards but I don’t see them that way. They are beautiful, they are creative, they are inspiring, they are fun! Doing this class will help you to understand how the “magic” isn’t in the card themselves — it’s inside YOU. For me the cards are less about divining the future and more about a creative way to look at myself — my joys and struggles and everything in-between.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO GET OUT OF THIS CLASS?
A solid grounding in how tarot works, what the cards mean and how they apply to your own life experiences. You’ll feel confident doing personal readings for yourself and will hopefully be inspired to bring the cards into your daily creative practice. You’ll have a true ally in the tarot. You’ll probably own more decks than you started with :-)
WILL I LEARN HOW TO GIVE READINGS TO OTHERS?
Not in the traditional sense, no. Our focus will be on creating a personal connection to our cards and using them for our own reflection and study. I don’t personally perform readings for others so I am not “qualified” to teach you how to do that, but you may find, as your connection to your deck grows, you naturally want to explore sharing your insights with others. I’ll be sharing recommendations for further study in the class.
CAN I CONNECT WITH OTHERS TAKING THE COURSE?
Yes! We’ll have a private (and totally optional) Facebook group where we can share our experiences and support each other.
